《易經》是中國傳統思想文化中自然哲學與人文實踐的理論根源,被譽為 「大道之源,群經之首,設教之書」 。在現代社會,所以能夠在二千多年中保持了自己的生命力,依賴於代代傳承。中國當代著名哲學家、教育家馮友蘭先生就曾說:「《周易》不僅是中國的,也是東方的,更是世界的,不僅是古代的,也是現代的,更是未來的。」林彤優將藝術繪畫與《易經》哲學相結合,通過簡單易懂的方式傳達《易經》深澀的哲學道理,即是創新之舉,也是對古代漢民族思想和智慧的傳承。
作為香港大學社會工作學系的教授,在教學和研究中,我深感自身的社會責任與使命。社會工作是根據專業價值觀念、運用專業方法幫助有困難的人或群體走出困境的職業。案主們面臨的困境不外乎「人生八苦」 ,即、生、老、病、死、愛離別、怨憎會、求不得、五蘊熾盛。 「天有不測風雲,人有旦夕禍福。」生老病死是自然規律,人之常情,但是同時也是世人的苦難。很大一方面原因是生老病死是超出個人掌控範圍的。人在困境中往往仿徨而不知所措,需要一個指引。社工的工作是通過不同方式指引案主自助。而《易經》給人的啟示亦是壹種指引。宇宙萬物,一切皆在變化之中。《易經》的精華在修德行善處於不同的環境和條件下,需要人們以相應德行以對之,為人們提供行動的準則。只有用相應德行應對,才能正確應對各種境遇,化解各種矛盾。
在過去的20多年裏,我和我的同僚們一直致力於研究並實踐「身心靈全人健康模式」在不同群體中的應用。林彤優創作的《易圖思靜觀著色畫冊》所傳輸的價值觀和我一直信仰並倡導的身心靈全人健康有異曲同工之妙。《易道》講究陰陽互應、剛柔相濟,強調事物發展的變化與轉機。相似地,「身心靈全人健康模式」注重辯證地看待困境與矛盾。生命既有其脆弱的一面,也有其堅毅的一面。創傷與苦難可以轉化為價值,孕育成長,讓個體更加強大地直面生活、熱愛生活。
希望林彤優創作付出熱情和努力創作的《易圖思靜觀著色畫冊》能夠有助人們在日常生活中領悟人生哲學,讓處於困惑和仿徨中的人獲得指引,支持、與自我肯定,在面對不同的困境時,能夠靜觀、冥想、自省,以期實現自助。

Cultural heritage treasures, guide the direction of life

I Ching is the theoretical source of natural philosophy and humanistic practice in traditional Chinese ideology and culture, and has been hailed as “the source of the avenue, the head of the classics, and the book of teaching.” In modern society, it has been able to maintain its vitality for more than 2,000 years, and it depends on inheritance from generation to generation. Mr. Fung Yu-Lan, a famous contemporary Chinese philosopher and educator, once said, “‘I Ching’ is not only Chinese but also Oriental and world-wide, not only ancient but also modern and future.” Lissa combines art and drawing with the philosophy of I Ching, conveying the profound philosophy of I-Ching in a simple and easy-to-understand way, is not only an innovation, but also the inheritance of thoughts and wisdom of the ancient Han cultural heritage.
As a professor of the Department of Social Work at the University of Hong Kong, I deeply feel my social responsibility and mission in teaching and research. Social work is a profession based on professional values and the use of professional methods to help people or groups in need to get out of trouble. The predicaments faced by the clients are nothing more than “eight hardships in life”, namely, birth, old, illness, death, love to parting, resentment meeting, impossibility to ask, and prosperity. “There are unpredictable things in the sky, and there is good and bad for all people.” It is a natural law to live, die, and die, but it is also the sufferings of the world. A large part of the reason is that life and death are beyond control of individuals. People are often at a loss in their dilemmas and need a guidance. The social worker’s job is to direct clients to help himself in different ways. The enlightenment of the I Ching is also a guide. Everything in the universe is changing. The essence of the I Ching is practice of morality and goodness under different circumstances and conditions. It provides people with guidelines for action when faced those adversities. Only by responding with corresponding virtues can we correctly cope with various situations and resolve various contradictions.
For more than 20 years, my colleagues and I have been committed to researching and teaching methods in the application of the “Integrative Body Mind Spirit” to different groups. The values conveyed by Lissa’s “易圖思 mInd CHanGING” mindfulness coloring book and the physical and mental health that I have always believed in and advocated are similar. “Yi Dao易道” pays attention to the interaction between yin and yang, rigidity and softness, and emphasizes the change and turning of things. Similarly, the “Integrative Body Mind Spirit” focuses on the dilemma and contradictions. Life has both its fragile and tenacious sides. Trauma and sufferings can be transformed into value, nurture and grow, so that individuals can face life stronger and treasure life more.
It is commendable for compassion that Lissa’s passion and hard-working “易圖思mInd CHanGING” mindfulness coloring book will help people understand the practical philosophy in daily life, and allow people in perplexity and imitation to receive guidance, support, and self-affirmation when facing different adversities; learn to observe, meditate, and introspect, in order to achieve self-help.
